B/w photographic postcard of five men standing in a row in front of a tent. They are dressed in WWI type uniforms. Printed across the lower front edge: "War correspondents, Columbus, N.M." On the back over a penned message is a typed sheet reading: "War correspondents with American Punitive Expedition into Mexico at Expeditionary Base in 1916. Left to right, Jack Rand of International News Service; Webb Miller, United Press; Ted Hedlund, Boston World Union; Phil McLaughlin, Associated Press; Samuel Thayer Moore, Springfield Union. Tent in background was their home for months."

Webb Miller, born in 1891 in Sumnerville/Pokagon, graduate of Dowagiac High School around 1910. Miller went on to become a journalist in Chicago, covered the Pancho Villa insurrection at the Mexican border in 1915 and landed a job at United Press. Stayed with UP and covered World War I, Ghandi, Etheopian War, Spanish Civil War and came to head UP Europe. Died mysterious death in 1940. Collection from donor's niece, who received the collection from Webb Miller's daughter—in—law, Helene Miller.
