Glued onto gray cardboard is an oval studio shot of a young man, chest and head visible. He has dark hair with center part, slicked down, and is wearing a very high stiff—appearing collar above buttoned coat. Lower left: "H.E. Beckwith, Dowagiac, Mich." This is Irving Phillipson, probably around the time of his high school graduation—— he was class of 1899 Valedictorian
