Round Oak
Description:
Round Oak heating stove, Matchstrike model, #18, c. late 1870s. This model is cast iron with sheet metal "can", four legs (no Round Oak name on leg), two feed doors, ashpit door, swingtop, nickel—plated footrail and finial. Finial is cast directly into swingtop and includes a brass decorative shield on top (this piece is not original and has been recast). Swingtop has patent dates listed, with last being from 1873. Top feed door includes three mica windows.

Stove was purchased by donor several years ago in fair condition. He had the stove restored by local stove restorer Mark Luthringer, stove is in excellent condition.
