Mantel, wood body with 3 inlaid mirrors in front, with a shelf over each mirror; curved moldings and scrollwork decorate the mantel from top to bottom; the backside has handwritten "AK Beckwith/Dowagiac, Mich," "#37 Finish," and "in a great hurry"; original tag from CJL Meyer and Sons Co., Chicago adhered; this mantel was supposedly made for Arthur Beckwith, adopted son of P.D. Beckwith of the Round Oak Stove Company

Mantel came from the home of Mary Shaul, 114 Oak Street, Dowagiac, great grandmother of Joann Myers; how the mantel got to 114 Oak St. is a mystery—— Arthur Beckwith, employed at Round Oak from 1890s to his death in 1914, resided at 209 Oak St.; Beckwith may have lived at 114 Oak before 1899, first directory listing at 209 or it was sold to 114 and ended up there
