This is the American House Hotel in Dowagiac at the corner of Front St. and Division St. (probably north side of Front St.), operated by Nicholas Bock of Dowagiac; according to the Barbara and Grafton Cook book, "Round Oak Stove People..." the hotel was opened by 1850 and he sold the hotel in the 1870s—— it burned down at some point SJA 10/21/2003
