Date:
1943 Feb. 2—1943 Dec.
Notes:
Donor's father Henry worked for Rudy Furnace Co. from 1942—mid 1970s. He also served in ETO during WWII.
The Duck Club originated in the late 1930s primarily for boys living east of the railroad tracks in Dowagiac. It was named by Lyell/Lyle Wooster who became acquainted watching them swim in the Dowagiac Creek and said they swam like "ducks." The boys met at Lincoln School, above Bill Hardings Highgrade gas station, etc. Mr. Wooster corresponded with all the Duck Club servicemen during the WW and relayed news of other Ducks, their new addresses, etc. (info furnished 1/13/04 at musem by Tony Moroz, one of original Duck Club members.)
