Date:
1900—1947
Notes:
Made by donor's great grandfather at the Round Oak Stove Company, probably in the late 1800s to early 1900s; at the end of the workday, there was usually some extra melted iron; moulders used the extra materials to make items for their family and friends—— more popular items included a frog, Naughty Nelly and several dogs, including this one which is very rare; they would be given to family or friends and provenance is key for these pieces to trace the history; these would have been used as doorstops or paper weights

Abraham Lincoln Shanafelt was father of Harry Shanafelt, the object of previous donation by Gary Shanafelt (2001—0031)
