Round Oak
Description:
Heating stove, P.D. Beckwith model, c. 1870—71, size 20. This stove was made prior to the incorporation of the Round Oak Stove Co. and does not have the Round Oak name on it. Stove has a flat top with one removable burner, oak leaves circling hte outside. The top door has "P.D. Beckwith,/Dowagiac, Mich." cast in it while bottom has two flower patterns with patent dates, December 14, 1869 and October 18, 1870 cast. Base has a Fleur—de—lis pattern, which sits atop four plain legs.

The founder of Historic Charlton Park likely acquired this stove decades ago when he was collecting and working on creating HCP. Prior to donating to the Museum at SMC, Historic Charlton Park ran advertisements seeking information—— no new information came of the ads.
